How to convert a fraction to a decimal

Every fraction is really a division in disguise: the top number (numerator) divided by the bottom (denominator). Converting to a decimal just means doing that division.
How to convert
decimal = numerator ÷ denominator
Example: 3/4 = 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75. And 7/8 = 0.875.
Repeating decimals
Some fractions produce repeating decimals: 1/3 = 0.333…, 2/3 = 0.666…. This happens when the simplified denominator has factors other than 2 and 5. Fractions like 1/2, 1/4 and 7/8 always terminate.
To a percentage
Multiply the decimal by 100: 0.75 = 75%.

How to go back to a fraction? Put the decimal over a power of 10 and simplify: 0.75 = 75/100 = 3/4.
