Fraction to decimal and percentage converter

How the calculation works
Every fraction is really a division in disguise. To turn it into a decimal, divide the top by the bottom:
decimal = numerator ÷ denominator
To get a percentage, multiply the decimal by 100.
Step-by-step example (3/4)
- Decimal: 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75
- Percentage: 0.75 × 100 = 75%
Repeating decimals
Some fractions give repeating decimals: 1/3 = 0.333…, 2/3 = 0.666…. This happens when the simplified denominator has factors other than 2 and 5. Denominators with only 2s and 5s always terminate.

- 7/8 = 7 ÷ 8 = 0.875 = 87.5%.
