Overtime pay calculator
Work out your overtime pay from your regular hourly rate, the overtime multiplier and the number of hours.
How the calculation works
An overtime hour is worth the regular rate plus a premium. In Brazil (CLT), the minimum is 50% on weekdays and 100% on Sundays and holidays; "time and a half" (1.5×) and "double time" (2×) are the common equivalents.
OT rate = regular hourly rate × (1 + premium%)
total = OT rate × overtime hours
Finding your regular hourly rate
Divide monthly salary by monthly hours. For a 44h week, Brazil uses 220 hours/month:
hourly rate = salary ÷ 220
Step-by-step example (rate R$20, 10 hours at 50%)
- OT rate: 20 × 1.50 = R$30
- Total: 30 × 10 = R$300
Effect on other pay
Habitual overtime feeds into vacation, 13th, FGTS and notice (via averages) — so it raises those amounts over time too.
Examples
- Salary R$4,400 → hourly = 4,400 ÷ 220 = R$20. 10 hours at 50% = R$300.
- 8 holiday hours at 100%, rate R$25: 25 × 2 × 8 = R$400.
