How the calculation works
A countdown shows how many days (and weeks) remain until an important date — a trip, an exam, a wedding, New Year. We compute the difference in days between today and your chosen date.
If the date has passed, we show how many days ago it happened (a count "forward").

X days remain until your event; divide by 7 to see how many weeks away it is — handy for planning.
Examples
- Target Dec 25: shows how many days until Christmas.
- A past date shows "X days ago" (an anniversary, a start date).
Frequently asked questions
How many days until Christmas?
Set the target date to Dec 25 of the year you want.
Does it count today?
It shows whole days until the date. To count today as "day 1", add 1.
Does it handle leap years?
Yes. Ranges crossing Feb 29 include that day automatically.
Calendar days versus business days?
Calendar days count everything; business days skip weekends and holidays. Thirty business days is about 42 calendar days.
What if the deadline falls on a holiday?
In most contracts and legal deadlines it moves to the next business day, but check the specific agreement.
How do I handle time zones in a countdown?
Always state the reference time zone. An 18:00 New York event is 20:00 in Brasília under standard time.
