Use the date field to pick any day — past or future. The calculation handles leap years automatically.

How the calculation works

The Gregorian calendar repeats in cycles, and every date falls on a fixed weekday. The calculator uses the date you enter to determine the day (Sunday to Saturday), accounting for leap years.

Examples

  • Find out which weekday you were born on.
  • Check whether a future holiday lands on a Friday (long weekend) or midweek.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for old dates?

Yes, for the Gregorian calendar (adopted from 1582 in most of the world).

Does it work for future dates?

Yes. The calendar is predictable, so any future date's weekday can be found.

Why does the same date shift weekday each year?

Because a year has 365 days (52 weeks + 1), so a date advances one weekday per year — and two after a Feb 29.

Why does my birthday change weekday?

Because 365 days is 52 weeks plus one leftover day, which pushes the date one weekday forward each year — two when a 29 February falls in between.

How often does the calendar repeat?

Every 28 years within a century without a leap-year exception, the calendar repeats identically.

Does it work for historical dates?

For Gregorian dates, yes. Before October 1582 care is needed: ten days were skipped in the reform, and countries adopted it at different times.
